Vinny certainly is. Two fights in two games this season against Philly (one in which he threw a very late punch at a defenseless player). Just saying... It may have been a response to Rinaldo's late punch, but Vinny's was without a doubt intentional.

Vinny was incredible? How is punching a smaller player you picked a fight with while he's down incredible?

The Rinaldo hit wasn't late. He was mic'd up for the game and even asked the ref who very clearly said it was a clean fight.

I didn't include the late punches for this exact reason. It's a he-said-he-said situation. Rinaldo's was wrong, Vinny's was wrong. End of story IMO. I'm not going to defend Lecavalier any more than I'm going to attack Rinaldo. My view is that both made a conscious decision to hit the downed man. Lecavalier's was retribution. Does that make it right? No. Both were in the wrong.

Other than the fight, he played a real solid game, especially considering the fact that he's battling injury. As said in another comment, both Rinaldo and Vinny were in the wrong. I'm not going to sit here with Lightning colored glasses on and tell you that Vinny was right while Rinaldo was wrong.

Find the video of the ref. Theres a big difference in hitting a player before he hits the ice and hitting one who is already downed.

I don't care what jersey youre wearing. That's how you play the game.

Just wanted to post this. Apparently Kelly Sutherland didn't think Rinaldo did anything wrong. While I was ok with the first punch that hit Crombeen in the shoulder, the second was suspect and the third was uncalled for. The difference to me is that I do not believe Rinaldo has the mental capabilities to think before he acts. I think Vinny gave a little extra part as frustration and part as retribution. Either way both were unnecessary.

Crombeen's down on one knee, Rinaldo nails him. Crombeen is down on two knees, Rinaldo nails him again and all but knocks him out. Talbot is down on his side, Lecavalier nails him.

No difference. Both bad. Listen to McGuire talk about the communication between St. Louis and Briere.

I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm saying what Vinny did was wrong. I'm willing to take off my Lightning colored glasses. Now, I ask you to take off your Flyers colored glasses and agree that what Rinaldo did was uncalled for and unnecessary as well.

Surprised the late punches don't happen more often since player's respect for each other seems to have decreased in recent years. Both were dirty and uneccessary IMO, I don't care what the referee says(they've been wrong before). Vinny's obviously was all about retaliation.

I'm just surprised that the biggest clown in the league, Ben Eager wasn't the one who did this first.

And that man clearly didn't mean to throw a battery at Santa Clause WOW all this whining from Flyer fan is a little shocking, you win a game and get a taste of your own medicine and you still complain . It's like they think their team is a bunch of St. Louis'. Talibot runs his mouth like a big guy so i don't want to hear how Vinny is picking on a small player. Vinny has NO business fighting and clearly let out some frustration. It's not like your angle Simmonds never did anything, but i'm sure thats ok.

Bryz played lights out and I'll give credit where it's do. Time to move on

Did watch the game, but both fights finished badly. The first one was just adrenaline and the second was to get even. Everyone get over yourselves! Next game will be a blood-letting and nobody will be safe. The only question is who will still be healthy enough to finish the game?

I'm enjoy Vinny fighting, that's what leaders do but you should not do it out of frustration.
As for the Santa Claus incident, most likely this was before you were born. It's overplayed and drawn out. It doesn't even deal with the Flyers. Each fan base has horrible stories that can be brought up.

i agree with this. the lightning were stupid to challenge the flyers in this manner. when a team has a PP like that, they ought to be trying to draw penalties, not get into a fighting contest with a team that has inferior firepower.

it was snow balls at a 120 lb santa who was a replacement for the fat guy who got snowed in at the end of a disastrous losing season in the 60's....that's right, the 60's.

I love the hypocrisy from the Philly boys mad that Vinny threw a late on on talbot. He's just showing that both sides can do that crap. Good game too bad for the loss to an (right now anyway) inferior team. Don't worry boys you weren't the first nor will you be the last ones to get mugged in S Philly by a couple of guys with names ending in o .

Sorry, saying Rinaldo was also wrong is a lame attempt at trying to justify what Viny did. Rinaldo was throwing punches as Crombeen was falling. Guys continue to throw all the time in such a manner, as lots of guys often catch themselves and remain in the fight and work their way back up to a strong stance.

Vinny blatantly punched Talbot while he was flat on his back and the fight was over. Not comparable to what Zac did nor is it debatable. They even showed Rinaldo during the broadcast immediately coming out before the start of the 2nd saying to the ref "Hey, I wasn't trying to hit a downed player, he was still falling, I'm not like that". The ref, who I believe was Kelly Sutherland, agreed. Zac even tried to explain the same thing to PCL.

So while I understand Vinnys frustration, a Captain doesn't do that. It's not defendable even if Zac went out of his way to continue to beat Crombeens face in.

Bryz was the best player for either team in this game IMO. I thought Lindback was good, not great. Corey Conacher is the favorite for the Calder IMO, he was EVERYWHERE.

That also might have been Couteriers best game of the season

Just had to say, that despite who thinks what about rinaldo destroying crombeen, lecavalier is a classless POS. I know he wont get any attention for the disgusting act last night of blantantly/purposely hitting talbot when he was down, But it does make it interesting to see when the flyers take his head off for it.

this.

There is also the payback factor. Rinaldo and the Flyers were upset with Crombeen going after Giroux last game. It was just a matter of time until some payback was given.

A good wake up call. This is the type of tight checking hockey you need to play especially in the playoffs, so it's time to take stock of the free wheeling gunslinger mentality and come to play against this type of game. That's all we're going to see all week so now is the time to adapt, cut down on the long passes chip and chase and work harder for the opportunities.
